FOUNDER STORY

Why Art Prints?

I started Ugli Art because I wanted to make art more accessible without compromising on soul.

As someone who’s exhibited and sold original artworks through galleries and group shows, I kept noticing a few barriers for buyers:

  • Original works were often out of budget (because materials, time, and gallery commissions add up).
  • Popular pieces were often already sold.
  • The size wasn't always right for someone’s space.

And not everyone needs a one-of-a-kind painting to feel a connection. A lot of people simply want beautiful, meaningful art in their home - something that speaks to them and feels good to live with. That’s what I aim to offer through Ugli Art prints.

A Bit About Me

My background is in graphic design and business which are structured, strategic, clean. Art has always been the counterbalance - expressive, intuitive, and messy in all the best ways.

Over the years, I’ve made a lot of bold pivots. I bought a house in my early 20s, then took off to travel the world for four years. Later, I left a management job to study painting at uni. In my 40s, I ran my own design business while training for ultra marathons and a full Ironman. I even raised over $30,000 for charity through a 16,000km bike ride across Thailand by selling a couple hundred paintings I made just for the cause.

Now, I’m pouring that same drive and curiosity into growing this shop. Learning the ropes of e-commerce. Building a brand with heart. Creating pieces that feel like art, not decoration.

Why Ugli Art?

Ugli Art is a blend of chaos and care, just like life. Each piece reflects my messy-meets-deliberate process and invites you to embrace the beauty in imperfections. These are not polished, perfect pieces made to match the couch. They’re full of feeling, spontaneity, and soul.

All prints are made to order, professionally printed on premium fine art paper or canvas, and available framed or unframed. They’re designed to look and feel like original artworks, but without the gallery price tag.

The heart of it

When someone brings an Ugli Art piece into their space, I want it to become part of their story. I hope it reminds them that life isn’t meant to be perfect - it’s meant to be felt.

Your choice of artwork is a reflection of who you are. Let it remind you that beauty often shows up in the raw, real, unplanned moments. That’s the heart of Ugli Art.
